Vertical Space Design - in 2020 global strategy?

The design of vertical spaces is a global trend. Water walls, solar walls, legal graffiti on walls  and other new types of building envelopes do already produce well being and energy. One of the next ventures is the development of the vertical space by integrating flowers and plants into wall envelopes.

One of the leading experts in the field of vertical garden technology is Patrick Blanc. In his book "The Nature of the City - Vertical Gardens" he shows how natural habitats connect through plants to architecture and which plants actually can make up a vertical garden. He started up a vertical garden business in his own appartment in the 1980ies. Today, Mr. Blanc realizes vertical garden projects on all continents.

Companies further develop this theme. The German company ArtAqua has developed the "Green Wall" or the Swedish "Greenworks" has developed the "Moving Hedge". The Swiss company Hydroplant has made an effort to approach the vertical spaces in rooms from a more artistic-decorative approach, which they call "Verticalis". It could be described as a snapshot of a plant in an artframe, which can be installed at every massive wall. The greening of vertical spaces happens because of a variety of beneficial implications: they harmonize inner spaces, they are beneficial for health and well being, they improve the acoustic in rooms, they improve air quality, etc.

All together, vertical spaces design is not only an environmental, health as well as economic opportunity but also a political, legal and social theme. Is vertical space design in 2020 less accidence and more construction strategy? Questions or comments?
